On Monday, July 21 at the National Institute of Astrophysics, an international English-language certification course called Heartsaver will be held, also featuring first aid with American Heart Association international certification issued, organized by the International Training Center AHA “Squicciarini Rescue”
With this course comes a collaboration with IAPS, which is located within the national research center (CNR) in Rome.
The need is to train foreign doctoral students to be able to go abroad to the La Palma Observatory where compulsorily required the international first aid certificate, given the remoteness with first aid points.
The Roque de los Muchachos Observatory is an astronomical observatory located in the municipal territory of Garafía on the island of La Palma (Canary Islands). The observatory site is operated by the Canary Islands Institute of Astrophysics, which is based on the neighboring island of Tenerife.
For many years we have also been involved in training with native instructors, and in Italy we are among the few who are able to deliver international certifications in English and Spanish as well.
The training will take place through teaching by physicians, nurses and instructors accredited to the 118 regional health system and with next-generation digital mannequins (QCPRs) connected to innovative devices that can guide learners’ actions, monitor their activities and provide immediate and end-of-service feedback.
The international AHA certificate, is the only one delivered for medical and non-medical personnel that has international value and that it is possible to receive upon completion of our courses.

Marco SQUICCIARINI, born in 1962, is a physician who has been disseminating life-saving maneuvers in Italy and abroad for more than 23 years. He is the head of a network of about 600 American Heart Association BLSD Instructors doctors and nurses, appointed in 2023 as a medical expert at the Prime Minister’s Office for the entrustment of the Cardioprotection service, and since 2020 he has been BLSD Training Activities Coordinator at the Ministry of Health. In 2004 he founded the first website (https://manovredisostruzionepediatriche.com) that teaches how to protect a child in case of choking with teaching materials approved by the National Institute of Health and usable by everyone. For several years, he has integrated Corporate First Aid with BLSD to expand the number of people who can protect the value of life, through Safe&Security projects combined with Welfare and Sustainability.
